‘TIS THE SEASON OF CHRISTMAS SPECIALS – HERE’S WHERE TO GET THEM IN CAMDEN MARKET
The Christmas season ain’t all about turkey and stuffing – Camden’s street food scene is getting in on the act with an advent calendar of festive feasting happening at KERB Camden Market. Each limited edition dish will be served for one day only – so mark them in your diary. Here’s the list of what to wrap your chops around and when.
The masters of the 60-day-aged patty, Burger & Beyond are going all out crazy with the arrival of their Turkey Gobbler: a prime beef burger topped with turkey bacon (yes, that is a thing) and all the trimmings: red cabbage and smoky cheese, slathered in maple butter and turkey gravy. Grab a napkin, you’ll need one.
Oli Baba’s are doing what they do best with a special Christmas twist: crispy halloumi fries topped with a generous dollop of cinnamon yoghurt, cranberry sauce, fried thyme, crushed walnuts and a sprig of mint. Delicious.
Gingerbread just tastes and smells like Christmas, but South East Cakery’s Claude the Chocolate Gingerbread Man takes this little biscuity chap one step further. Iced with a little bow tie and buttons, Claude is the perfect option for kids (and big kids alike).
Killa Dilla do quesadillas stuffed with gooey cheese – and when we say stuffed we mean oozing out of the edges *heart eyes emoji*. For Christmas serving up a cofit turkey and mozzarella version with roasted sprouts and cranberry, pink onion and clementine salsa.
Oh My Dog! will be peddling their heritage breed frankfurters Ho-Ho-Hotdog style: that’s a first grade German sausage, between bread, topped with melted Brie, bacon sprinkles and cranberry and cognac ketchup. Boom.
Bonus day: the KERB bar will be serving up mince pies and custard all day, so make sure you swing by for pudding.
Sometimes the simple things are the best: take Mother Clucker’s tea brined, buttermilk soaked, twice battered fried chicken stripsand dunk ‘em in their special cranberry sauce.
Columbian street food masters Maize Blaze are bringing chestnut polenta fries to the West Yard – order them with a grilled chicken and paprika chorizo ‘Marching Box’ – called so because it keeps you going all day.
For all those with a sweet tooth, Square Root are preparing a new festive flavour for you to sip on: spiced mince pie soda with butter caramel, raisins and candied citrus. Sounds mad, tastes great.
