We ❤ Dr. Martens

Coming Soon

Tue 10 Jan

Since it first stomped onto the scene in 1960, the durable Dr. Martens boot has always stood for empowerment and rebellious self-expression. From punk to rock to Britpop, the shoe with the trademark yellow stitch has always been beloved by Camden’s music scene – and now the brand is coming home, with a new concept store in Camden Market.

The brand’s most innovative to date, the 4,000 square-foot space will house their European flagship store, a virtual footwear experience, a mini-museum with rare pieces from music legends, and a live music lounge.

Here’s four things you need to know:

  • It’s a celebration of the brand’s history. Dr. Martens have so much cultural heritage they’ve written a book about it called A History of Rebellious Self Expression. The new store will tell the story with images and artefacts from the 60s through to the present day.
  • You’ll be able to attend live gigs in-store. Dr. Martens have partnered with speaker maestros Marshalls on a custom-designed space for a constantly-changing series of gigs and events.
  • You’ll be able to walk around their Cobb’s Lane factory.  A groundbreaking VR experience will transport you to their Northampton factory where their Made in England products are crafted.
  • You’ll be able to make your own boot. Dr. Martens have always been about individuality, and in the Camden Market store, you’ll be able to make your own mark on your new pair, tattooing the leather with your own designs.

The Dr. Marten’s flagship store, by The Stables entrance of Camden Market, opens in April 2017.
