WE’VE GOT GRATE HOPES FOR THE NORTH YARD’S NEWEST RESIDENT

Cheese toastie champions The Cheese Truck have chosen Camden Market for their first bricks-and-mortar monument to the melty snack, with a whole host of other cheesy delights on the menu. This isn’t big Cheese Mathew Carver’s first foray into fromage – his story began in 2014, when he was given an old ice cream truck (long story…) and gave up his day job. After touring America to explore the street food scene, he came back, invested in some toastie makers, painted the truck yellow and started serving up melted morsels to the masses.

Building on this success, The Cheese Bar will have a greatly expanded menu from breakfast right through to dinner, with delights including a queso fundido (a sort of melted, cheesy dip) and a breakfast poutine, with candied pancetta, bacon gravy and cheese curds, as well as a selection of their 30 fave British cheeses for you to check out.

Can’t wait for the official opening? From Thursday 2 March, a ‘sneak preview’ hatch will be serving up a sneak peek of their menu. On the day of opening, he’ll also be holding a Sandwich Amnesty, where you can swap a packaged, store-bought sarnie for one of their awesome toasties for free. All you have to do to get your mitts on one is turn up to between 12pm-3pm, with a sealed, shop-bought sandwich with at least one day left before the expiry date. All donated sandwiches are handed out to those in need by the charity SHP.

The Cheese Bar is now fully open but want to see how the Sandwich Amnesty went down? Check out our video: ?
